We are a small family breeding of dogs: we breed only Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in two colors, Blenheim (white and orange) and tricolor (black, white and brown).
We live in Treviso, at 30 km to Venice, in Italy.
The love for these marvelous dogs is born almost by case, finding a picture on web and reading how was described the nature of these charming pets. Even if it was not the kind of dog we were looking for, by then we were already deeply fallen in love with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
This way Maia is arrived, our adorable princess. And this home is become in all respects “The Maia’s Home” (“La Casa di Maia”).
We have understood that all we had read about the temperament and the kindliness of this breed is really true. Maia can bring joy and serenity only with her charming and gentle sight.
For her first birthday we made the choice of give her two new friends, so Greta and Paco came in our family.
In August 2009 we adopted Mila, a little Blenheim girl that looks very cunning!
The well being of our dogs and their puppies is for us the most important thing, therefore we plan the litters with extreme attention. The puppies born and live in our home, interact with us and with the domestic environment since the birth. They are touched, snaked, hugged, cuddled with steadily: this thing in our opinion is very important for grow up balanced, sweet and affectionate pets.
Have big importance for us the choice of new families that will put up our puppies. For this reason we help new family to be aware about the engagement of a pet, same more we help to choose the right one taking into account the lifestyle of the family and the character of the puppy.
We usually are generous of advice before and after the delivery of the puppies. So we will very please to receive lots of pictures and news about our darling puppies!

 

 

History

These wonderful dogs descend from the little spaniel that was diffused in England since the Age of Elisabeth the 1° (end of 1500). In fact these spaniels of small dimensions seems were be born in the UK by the mating of dwarf size subjects, used like companion pets in the English Court, and Japanese spaniel gave as a present to the wife of Charles II.
They did not live only as court dogs in the cotton wall of the palaces, but they were used also as hunting dogs.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel brings its name from a nobleman that in storming times for the Coronet was be loyal to the English King Charles II. The king loved in particular way these little spaniels, as much, headless he had been subject of criticism from the Court, he often entertained himself playing with them.
Since 1920 Cavalier King has began to bring on own features, going away from its cousins King Charles Spaniel with often the Cavalier was confused.
This thing has led the draft in the 1928 of the Standard of the Breed and the acceptance of the Breed from the English Kennel Club.

The extraordinary world diffusion cavalier is having since the ‘90ies is due both to the very nice appearance, more intensified by the wonderful big eyes that have something human, and to the nature that make these pets the most suitable to be the companion of the family.
Firstly they have a surprising adaptability. Cavalier king can be the happy pal for sports men that love to walk on the mountain excursions, in which their tireless, lively and cheerful friend will take with enthusiasm. At the same time Cavalier king is the dog for how loves the quiet and sedentary life, for which Cavalier will be a joyful and pleasant companion, reserved and less intrusive at home, but always ready to follow owner wherever he would go.
If in the home there are children, this is the better race, because they love to play with kids measuring energy and vivacity of the game to the age and the conditions of the little friends. For the same reason, Cavalier King is the ideal fellow for the elderly, being very meek and easy to manage.
Cavalier King dogs are used, with big success, in the obedience and agility competitions, and also for the pet therapy.
In the family, even if large, they can adapt easily because they do not have a privileged  love for only one, like sometimes happens with other small dog races, but they consider all the members likewise.They love with same intensity, that is very big, everyone without exception, and for this reason they have to be considered the best pal dogs among.
It is universally knew that Cavalier king literally needs a contact, sometimes also physical, with his owner. He feels himself, and so we have to consider him, like a member au pair in the family.
He loves to be carried in arms, to be hugged, to be stroked and split. He is happy when the owner seems be satisfied and he does all he can to please him. The only matter that he could have in the family routine is just his affection to the family: if we must leave him alone is necessary to accustom gradually  to avoid making him suffer. In this case, the presence of another pet (dog, cat, etc.) mitigates a lot his sensation of be left, that could off his innate happiness.
For the rest, the management of a Cavalier king is rather simple. He is healthy and long-lived, the beautiful coat of shiny and silk hair is put in order with two or three brushings for a week. Cavalier must be washed even if it is really necessary. We have to put particular attention to eyes and hears. The diet has to be control, because is very easy that Cavalier flattering: however those sweet and languid eyes can corrupt everyone!
Cavalier is a healthy dog and easy to train. His character is so particular that in England is the only breed that is entitled to enter in the Parlament, in the Royal Palaces, in all the public buildings and even in the Law Courts. King Charles II wanted this law and for ages no one needs to repeal it!
